Woman Who Bought Gun Gets Prison in Trooper Death

The girlfriend of a man who fatally shot a Pennsylvania state trooper gets seven months

The girlfriend of a man who fatally shot a Pennsylvania state trooper and wounded another has been ordered to spend seven months in prison for buying her boyfriend the gun.

Prosecutors had previously recommended house arrest and probation for 25-year-old Emily Gross, who agreed to plead guilty to lying on a firearms purchase form for her boyfriend, Daniel Autenrieth. But a federal judge on Monday ordered the Westfield, N.J. woman to prison.

Autenrieth kidnapped his son in May 2009 then led troopers on a high-speed chase before dying in a shootout that also killed Trooper Joshua Miller. Gross said she put Autenrieth's address on the form because she believed she would soon be moving in.

Gross’ attorney says the sentence is unfair but isn't sure if he'll appeal.
