Woman Thrown 15 Feet in Hit-and-Run

The victim was taken to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.

A woman is fighting for her life after police say she was struck in a hit-and-run accident in Northeast Philadelphia.

On Saturday, shortly before 11 p.m., Bedorah Johnson, 49, was standing on a curb near the driveway of the Days Inn Hotel at the bus stop on Roosevelt and Garland Street. As she stood, police say a vehicle traveling southbound on Route 1 in the middle lane spun out of control, crossed into the right lane and struck Johnson, sending her flying into the air. Johnson was thrown 15 feet before she landed at the corner of Garland Street.

Police say the vehicle then struck the hotel fence, knocking a portion down. The vehicle then briefly stopped before fleeing the scene, according to investigators. Johnson was taken to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.

A witness described the vehicle as a tan minivan, possibly a 2009 Chevy Venture. If you have any information on this incident, please call Philadelphia Police.
