Krystal Cruz of Bethlehem was also ordered Friday to serve two years probation. The 29-year-old Cruz had pleaded guilty in August to assault by auto and driving under the influence.

Atlantic County prosecutors say the crash occurred Dec. 24 in Hamilton Township. They say Cruz had been drinking at a party before she ran a red light on Route 40 and collided with the officer's cruiser.

The officer, identified only as a 24-year veteran of the Hamilton force, sustained physical and neurological injuries and has not been able to return to work since the crash occurred.
