Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing City Cell Phones

It looks like a woman who denied that she had stolen city cell phones has pleaded guilty to doing just that.

Mona Lambertson, a former Division of Technology employee with Philadelphia stole 28 cell phones and rented them out for cash to friends, family and some other city employees, according to Mayor Michael Nutter's office.

The NBC10 Investigators first broke this story back in 2008. That's when sources at City Hall told us about Lambertson.

The city had allegedly fired Lambertson for stealing and selling cell phones, sources said at the time.

When I first approached Lambertson she refused to comment. But a year later, in October of 2009, following an Attorney General’s investigation, police arrested Lambertson on theft, obstruction and misuse of property charges.

At that time I caught up with the 53-year-old at her North Philadelphia home where she insisted she was innocent.

But, according to officials, Lambertson pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to pay more than $30,000 in restitution and serve five years probation.

Neither Lambertson nor her attorney could be reached for comment.
