Boyfriend Accused of Strangling Young NJ Mom, Leaving Her Dead With Baby

Police have arrested the boyfriend of a 23-year-old mom who was found strangled to death in her New Jersey bedroom with their infant son.

Mary Greff was found dead in the Waldwick home she shared with her parents on Wednesday, and authorities say her 22-year-old boyfriend of two years, Mark Spatucci, killed her after an argument that night.

The 10-month-old baby was found unharmed in a bassinet next to her body.

Spatucci is charged with murder, felony murder, burglary and endangering the welfare of a child.

Prosecutors say he entered and left the house through a second-floor window.

It was not immediately clear whether he had a lawyer.

Neighbors who know the family said Greff was a friendly woman who had moved back in with her parents around the time her baby came along.

"I knew Mary since she was a baby, very nice girl," said Antoinette Acampora. "We're all very, very upset about this whole thing."

"It's horrible. I feel for the people," said Darren Dellavechia.

Those who knew Spatucci said he was a family man and couldn't believe he was accused of killing his son's own mother.

"He seemed like a really good dad, so I don't know what happened," said Joe Incardona, the suspect's landlord. "Maybe he just snapped."
