Woman Fights Off Attempted Rape: Cops

A 29-year-old woman retaliated against an attacker who tried to rape her yesterday in Hunting Park, using a pocketknife to stab him, according to philly.com.

Philly.com reports that David McDonald, 43, approached the woman at around 3 a.m., near 9th Street and Hunting Park Avenue, while the woman was outside smoking a cigarette.

McDonald allegedly attempted to sexually assault the woman after she refused his advances. Police say he tore off pieces of her clothing and punched her in the face.

According to investigators, the victim began to fight back by stabbing McDonald in the stomach several times, at which point he ran off. The woman ran home to call the police.

The woman was taken and treated at Temple University Hospital. Her eyes were swollen shut when she arrived. Officers found the attacker at 9th Street and Cayuga and brought him to Temple as well. He was in stable condition.

McDonald was arrested for attempted rape, aggravated assault, and related offenses.
