A 58-year-old woman was killed and a 14-year-old girl was hospitalized after a double shooting in Trenton, New Jersey.

The teen was shot in the torso and an arm. She is in stable condition and expected to survive, officials said.

The teen girl and 58-year-old Wilma Rutledge were shot shortly after 3 p.m. Friday near North Willow Street and Carver Lane, according to police. At least 14 shell casings were found at the scene.

A friend of Rutledge told NBC10 she was a generous person always willing to lend a hand.

"Anybody that needed a dollar, or [needed] a ride," neighbor Deborah Cousin said. "She was just a kind person."

Police have not confirmed if Rutledge and the teen girl knew each other.
