Woman Makes Fake 9-1-1 Call to Avoid Arrest: Cops

The trick a woman allegedly tried to pull on police turned out to be no treat for her and a second suspect.

A routine traffic stop in Gloucester Township, takes an interesting turn. Late Monday night, police stopped a car on Blackwood-Clementon Road for a traffic violation. While the car was pulled over, Gloucester Township police received an emergency 9-1-1 call, that someone had a shotgun at a nearby WAWA store.

It turns out, it was all a trick. Police say the passenger in the car, 25-year-old Janora Carter called 9-1-1 with the false report, while stopped on the side of the road. Investigators say Carter and the driver, Robert Webb, 28, both of Camden, had numerous outstanding warrants. Police say Carter's plan was to lure police away from the scene, so they would let them go.

It didn't work. Both were taken to Camden County jail, and now face new charges -- Carter for placing a false 9-1-1 call and reporting a fictitious incident to law enforcement, and Webb for giving a false name to officers.
