Wildwood Beach Taxi Shuttles Visitors

A southern New Jersey town has started a beach taxi for visitors who don't want to walk the sand to the surf.

Wildwood's beach is estimated to be as wide as 2,000 feet in spots.

All-terrain vehicles carry adult visitors and their supplies for $3 one way. Those 60 and older or 12 and younger pay $2 each way. Veterans with ID cards and those with physical impairments are charged $1.

Mayor Ernie Troiano Jr. tells The Press of Atlantic City he feels for mothers that have to haul all their stuff to the water's edge. He says the beach grew 158 feet over the winter as sand from other beaches shifts south.
