West Chester Man Shot Through House Window

The shooting happened in a residential neighborhood that doesn’t see much crime

A 23-year-old man was shot and killed while in a West Chester home early Friday when a bullet flew through his window.

Towayne Uqdah of Philadelphia died from a gunshot wound after someone shot multiple times in the neighborhood of Matlack and Chestnut streets at about 2 a.m.

The shooting happened in a residential neighborhood that doesn’t see much crime, according to Chester Police Chief Scott Bohn.

“This type of violence is completely uncharacteristic for West Chester,” Bohn said. “The Borough only had one homicide in 2011 and none in 2010. We will devote every resource to solving this case.”

This is the second homicide in Chester County this week, District Attorney Tom Hogan said.
