Police have arrested a suspect in the death of a woman found strangled in a Philadelphia apartment more than a year ago.
William Walton, 40, of the 900 block of N 45th Street was taken into custody Monday and charged with murder in the December 2010 death of 22-year-old Allison Edwards. She was found strangled in a building on the 3800 block of Glendale Street in the Juniata Park section of Northeast Philadelphia.
Police earlier thought the case could be related to the deaths of several women found sexually assaulted and strangled in the nearby Kensington section of the city, but they later ruled out any link. A suspect in those cases was arrested a year ago.
Walton remained in custody and a listed number for him could not be found Tuesday; it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
