City Hall Veterans Fair Brings Big Turnout

Veterans organizations and others joined together in Philadelphia to offer a big thank you to former soldiers.

Offering everything from health care to job opportunities, the Veterans Fair in City Hall's courtyard showcased a range of goods and services for those who have served the nation.

Wayne McCarty said his father struggled ever since he returned from Vietnam. That prompted McCarty to  form the Second Brigade to help those in a similar situation.

"We're here to support all veterans, POW-MIAs,  trying to get vets off the street, help them out with clothing, shoes, canned goods ... trying to help them with services to get their benefits," McCarty said.

Shannon Drake, who founded the group Thank A Vet to provide clothing and wheelchairs to veterans in need, said everyone should take time to say thank you to those who served in the military.

"They will tell you not to thank them, but thank them anyway," Drake advised.
