Violent Night in Philly's 22nd District

Police investigate three deadly shootings in as many hours

Three men were killed Monday in three separate homicides in about as many hours in Philadelphia's 22nd district.

The violence began in Strawberry Mansion around 3:45 pm. Investigators say a man died after he was shot, then crashed his car on the 17-hundred block of North Hollywood Street. There are no suspects.

Two hours later, police say, an 82-year old suspect shot a neighborhood handyman on the 26-hundred block of Ingersoll Street.  Family members identified the victim as 51-year old Kenny Butts of North 25th Street. According to investigators, Butts was shot in the mouth. Neighbors say the elderly suspect believed Butts was involved with his girlfriend.

And around 7:30 pm, a shooting at an auto body shop at 23rd and Stewart Streets left one man dead and another wounded. That homicide remains under investigation.
