Facebookers Allegedly Cyber Bullying Vineland High Schoolers

Some Vineland High School students are fed up with what they call hateful Facebook posts.

The students -- who didn’t want to be indentified -- approached NBC10 about the page.

“I contacted you guys because I knew you guys would do something about it because our school -- it’s been going on for two months -- and they haven’t done anything.”

So what has these students claiming cyber bullying?

“They’re talking about sexual things, their appearance, calling them fat and ugly.”

Basically what’s happening is that someone posts one of the students’ Facebook photos on their wall and writes whatever they want about the teen. Some of the stuff is even too graphic to mention here.

“They’ve said sexual things about me. They’ve said nasty things. And they make comments of weight on there and since I’m not the perfect size zero… of course they’re gonna have something to say.”

Students from the Cumberland County school insist fellow classmates are behind these Facebook pages and say no one at their school is safe -- everyone is a target.

NBC10 contacted Vineland High the students’ concerns and administrators  released a statement that says in part:

“At this time we are not able to identify who is posting these comments and photographs or even if they are students. We are working diligently with law enforcement to identify those who are making these postings, and if they are students, they are subject to swift and appropriate disciplinary action.”

Facebook said they are reviewing the pages and will take any necessary actions.

But students affected by unkind posts feel not enough has been done to prevent what they call cyber bullying. They also don’t want anyone affected by the posts to take drastic actions.

“I don’t want to see any of my classmates committing suicide or people even go in school and shoot up the place because they can’t take it anymore.”
