3 Hurt in Shooting at Vineland Nightclub

The shooting occurred at Grant Plaza on E. Landis Avenue in Vineland around 1:25 a.m. Saturday.

A shooting at a New Jersey nightclub left three people wounded over the weekend.

The shooting occurred at Grant Plaza on E. Landis Avenue in Vineland around 1:25 a.m. Saturday. Shots were fired both inside and outside the club, according to officials. Three men in all were struck by the gunfire. They were treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries. One victim was released while two remain Monday.

Samuel Fowler, who owns a restaurant near Grant Plaza, witnessed the aftermath of the shooting and started streaming it on Facebook Live.

“People started running out and saying, ‘Yo, they’re shooting inside,’” Fowler told NBC10.

As responding police officers worked to clear the area shortly after the shooting occurred and determine if there were more victims, authorities say more shots rang out in a parking lot behind the club.

“That just don’t make sense,” Fowler said. “The cops are here and you’re still shooting?”

No additional injuries were reported however.

Investigators believe the victims were shot inside Grant Plaza but club management disputed that in a released statement on their Facebook page.

“Although shots were fired inside, they were shot towards the ceiling and no one was hit inside,” they wrote. “But once they headed outside, disregarding the presence of the Vineland police, a shootout ensued. We don't know if anyone was hurt outside at this time.”

Club management blamed gang members for the violence and said they would increase their security measures.

Police have not determined what led to the shooting and have not released information on any suspects or made any arrests. While hundreds of people were inside the club at the time of the shooting, investigators say no one is coming forward with information regarding the identities of the gunmen.

“We always do a rally when police shoot black people,” Fowler said. “But when we shoot each other, ain’t nobody saying much. So it’s time for a change now.”
