Friends and family gathered Monday night to remember the life and legacy of one of Philadelphia’s finest.
On February 13, 2009, three years to the day, John Pawlowski was shot and killed after responding to a fight between a cab driver and another man in the Olney section of Philadelphia. He was 25-years-old.
The gunman, Rasheed Scrugs, was sentenced to life in prison after a jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on a death sentence.
Pawlowksi’s vigil took place around 7 p.m. in Olney. He served with the Philadelphia Police Department for 5 ½ years. He is survived by a wife and son. His brother is also a Philadelphia Police officer while his father retired from the force.
