Video posted on social media shows the mall's Easter bunny exchanging punches with shoppers at a New Jersey mall.
The video was posted on Twitter around 5:40 p.m. Sunday and shows a chaotic scene in a section that was set up to take photos with the Easter bunny at the Newport Mall in Jersey City.
The man in the bunny costume is seen brawling before being separated by security. The man then appears seconds later, throws off his white bunny gloves and exchanges punches with another man.
Police on Monday morning said officers responded to the Newport Centre Mall for reports of the Easter bunny fighting with a man just after 5 p.m. Sunday. When police arrived, the 22-year-old man dressed as the Easter bunny told them that the father of a 1-year-old child "verbally and then physically attacked him after the girl slipped from the chair following her photo," according to a police spokeswoman.
Police said a fight ensued between the father and the Easter bunny, and that both were taken to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
No charges had been filed as of Monday morning, and detectives continued to investigate the fight and speak with witnesses. Police said it remains unclear who initiated the fight.
