Security Guard Stabbed, Robbed at Home Depot: Cops

Police release surveillance video from Home Depot robbery and stabbing

Philadelphia police released surveillance video on Thursday that shows a man they say is responsible for stabbing two workers inside a Home Depot yesterday when they confronted him for allegedly trying to steal merchandise.

It happened at the Home Depot at 2539 Castor Avenue in the Port Richmond section of the city.

Police say two men tried to steal copper wire from the store. During the attempted robbery they allegedly stabbed a 39-year-old male security guard in the right abdomen and scratched another guard. One suspect then fled on foot while another drove off in a car, according to investigators.

The 39-year-old guard was taken to the hospital where he is currently in stable condition. No arrests have been made and no weapon has been recovered.

If you recognize the guy in the surveillance video, police want you to call them: 215-685-9854. He's six feet tall and approximately 250 pounds and is probably in his 30s, police say.
