Man Kills Wife, Turns Gun on Self in Jersey Shore Home: Investigators

A Jersey Shore resident shot and killed his wife then turned the gun on himself, said Atlantic County Prosecutors.

Police responded to a home on North Oxford Avenue in Ventnor at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in response to a call to check the well-being of the residents inside. When they arrived they found a man and woman both dead of single gunshot wounds to the head.

On Friday, police identified the residents as Marianne Wilson-Allen, 59, and Richard Allen, 60. The county medical examiner ruled Wilson-Allen's death a homicide and Allen's a suicide caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
