Police go door-to-door in Northeast Philadelphia. They are handing out flyers to residents regarding the recent rash of vehicle vandalism.
20 officers are working the area of 600 Van Kirk Street, asking neighbors to report anything that might help them catch whoever is responsible.
The latest incident happened early Wednesday morning on Van Kirk Street.
Police say the vandal or vandals damaged 17 cars on the street by pouring some sort of acid on the vehicles. Lawncrest residents say it’s the latest in a series of similar vandalism incidents in their neighborhood that have occurred since last summer.
"Vandals, with nothing better to do," said Theresa Desir, who had two cars vandalized overnight. "It happens in the middle of the night every time. It's someone sitting home laughing at us all."
Residents have spent thousands of dollars painting and repainting their cars.
"They better catch them before somebody else does," said Ray Campbell, whose minivan was sprayed with acid. "If I catch anyone around my car at night, watch out."
No arrests have been made. Police continue to investigate.
