Upper Darby School District Accepts Teacher's Resignation After Racist Rant Caught on Cam

Renee Greeley has resigned as a teacher at Drexel Hill Middle School after her rant was captured on camera

A white Delaware County, Pennsylvania, teacher who was captured on video calling a black parent a racial slur following a fender bender has resigned.

The Upper Darby school board on Tuesday voted unanimously to accept Drexel Hill Middle School teacher Renee Greeley's resignation, effective Oct. 17.

Greeley was placed on administrative leave after a parent posted video on Oct. 10 of the minor car accident in the school parking lot. Greeley could be heard saying the parent is "probably on welfare" and should go back to his "Section 8 house." She later called him the N-word.

Greeley had taught in the district since 2008.

Nearly half of the district's 12,500 students are black.

“Upper Darby School District does not condone or tolerate inappropriate conduct or speech associated with hate, racism, discrimination or intolerance of any kind,” a spokesperson for the school district wrote after the incident. “The deeply troubling comments and actions of this teacher are not indicative of the hundreds of outstanding teachers working in our schools each and every day.”
