Feds Rest in Philadelphia Police Corruption Case

Federal prosecutors have rested their case in the corruption trial of six former drug unit officers in Philadelphia.

The police veterans are accused of robbing drug dealers of large sums of drugs and cash, then lying in court to win convictions.

The defense has begun its case Friday by questioning FBI agents about the investigation. The trial has been under way for four weeks.

The case largely centers on the testimony of convicted former officer Jeffrey Walker.

Walker admits he routinely stole money and valuables during illegal drug raids.

He says that was standard procedure in the elite undercover squad run by lead defendant Thomas Liciardello.

The defense calls Walker a lying thief and questions why police supervisors aren't charged.

Walker hopes to avoid a life sentence with his testimony.
