Trump Plaza, Caesars Start to Cool Off

Cooling operations have restarted at two Atlantic City casinos that have been without air conditioning since early Thursday.

Pepco Energy Services, which owns a power plant that provides cold water to Trump Plaza Hotel and Caesars Atlantic City to power their cooling systems, said both were receiving partial cooling as of Saturday afternoon. It says system capacity will increase throughout the day and into Sunday.

The problems were caused by a leaky underground pipe at the plant, which is being excavated and will take four to six weeks to be completely fixed. Temporary systems are being used to cool the venues while those repairs continue.

Caesars Atlantic City was open Saturday, drawing sparse crowds.

But Trump Plaza won't reopen until Sunday afternoon.

The closing is expected to cost Trump Plaza several million dollars.
