Family, Friends & Fellow Police Mourn Pennsylvania State Trooper Killed at Gun Range

Pennsylvania state trooper accidentally killed in a firearms training exercise is being laid to rest in Northeast Philadelphia.

Hundreds of law enforcement officers lined the streets and bagpipes played Monday as troopers brought the flag-draped casket of 26-year-old David Kedra into Christ the King Church.

Officials say the 26-year-old trooper was shot in the chest Tuesday after another trooper's gun accidentally discharged during a yearly training exercise at the Montgomery County Public Safety Training Complex in Conshohocken, near Philadelphia, state police said.

The 2010 Temple University graduate joined the state police in June 2012. He was assigned to the Skippack barracks in Montgomery County in January 2013 following his graduation from the academy.

Kedra was the second trooper shot to death in September. Cpl. Bryon Dickson was killed in a Sept. 12 ambush outside the Blooming Grove barracks that also wounded another trooper. Authorities have been searching for a suspect.

Instead of flowers, the family requested mourners donate to the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association's "Troopers Helping Troopers Foundation" in Kedra's memory.
