Trial to Open in Stolen World Series Ring Case

The trial for a janitor accused of stealing ring from bathroom starts

The trial for a janitor accused of swiping a World Series ring from a stadium bathroom is scheduled to begin in Philadelphia.

Authorities say 53-year-old Anthony Mobley took the 2008 World Series championship ring that a team executive left in a bathroom at Citizens Bank Park.

Mobley was charged in September with theft and receiving stolen property. His trial is scheduled to begin Monday.

Investigators say surveillance footage led police to Mobley and he led officers to a supply closet where he'd stashed the ring.

Authorities say a team marketing executive left the ring in a washroom and it wasn't there when he went back for it a half-hour later.
