AirTrain Service Resumes at Newark Airport

AirTrain service has resumed at Newark Liberty International Airport.

The 6.3-mile service started shuttling passengers between terminals Thursday after two months of repairs were finished ahead of schedule. Workers had to replace parts of the running surface because holes had developed.

The work was finished in time for the July Fourth holiday. Newark airport is expected to handle more than 600,000 travelers through the six-day period.

The AirTrain station that links New Jersey Transit and Amtrak trains along the Northeast Corridor is also open.

Substitute shuttle buses that had provided alternate service will remain available just in case there are any problems.
