Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Find

New Castle County Police say they found drugs and a gun in a car during a traffic stop and two people face charges.

Police say they pulled over a Honda Accord around 10:30 p.m. Friday in Newark when the driver failed to stop at an intersection. Police say that when they stopped the vehicle they became suspicious. They say they found a gun under the seat of passenger Carlo Lacio and found bags of amphetamines on the floor of the car near where he was sitting. Lacio was carrying two other bags. The 21-year-old from Newark now faces firearms and drug charges.

In addition, police say the driver, 22-year-old Javier Salmeron of Newark, was charged with marijuana possession.

Neither man appeared to have a listed telephone number.
