The township council in a New Jersey town has set a special meeting to vote on settling a decade-old housing discrimination lawsuit just before the case is heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Mount Holly council is scheduled to vote at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The Burlington County Times reports town officials Scheduled a vote for last week but then delayed it because of technical issues with the settlement.
Residents of the Mount Holly Gardens neighborhood sued over a redevelopment plan, saying they would not get enough from selling their homes to afford to love in a new neighborhood to be built there. They are arguing that it amounts to discrimination because most are minorities.
A settlement would make the Dec. 4 Supreme Court hearing moot.
