Tower Climber Shuts Down Streets

Police cordoned off some city streets Saturday morning when a man climbed an electrical tower and threatened to jump, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

The unidentified man climbed the tower on Amtrak property near 34th and Mantua streets at about 7:30 a.m., police said. He was brought down at about 10 a.m.

City and Amtrak police responded and cordoned off the streets around the area while they attempted to talk the man into coming down.

The man was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for evaluation.
