Gov. Tom Wolf Signs Law Requiring Rear-Facing Seats for Kids Under 2 in Pennsylvania

A new Pennsylvania law requires children under age 2 to be strapped into a rear-facing child safety seat in the back seat.

The Morning Call of Allentown said Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf signed into law Monday the legislation designed to improve child safety.

It replaces a law that critics say was too vague, allowing kids of all ages to ride in front-facing seats in the back or front.

Wolf says protecting children and other vulnerable people is the greatest responsibility of public servants.

The law takes effect in two months. Police will issue verbal warnings for the first year, but after that violations will carry fines of $125.
