Toddler Killed, 5 Hurt In Camden Fire

At least two people displaced by early morning blaze

A 22-month-old boy has died and five others were injured after fire broke out in Camden apartment complex early Saturday morning.

Fire broke out at the Gramercy Park Apartments at 2880 Hull Road shortly before 2 a.m. A spokeswoman for the Camden County Red Cross said that 8 apartments were affected by the blaze.

Investigators say that the body of the toddler was found on the second floor of the building. Three other members of the boy's family -- his 4-month-old brother and both parents -- were hospitalized. Their conditions were not immediately available; however, the mother, at least, is expected to survive.

The Camden County Red Cross says that 2 elderly people were displaced by the blaze and have been put up in a hotel. The Red Cross is also providing food and clothing to them. A final count of people affected by the fire was not immediately available.

Investigators tell NBC10 that the fire appears to have been accidental and caused by human error.
