Accused Newlywed “Thrill Killers” in Court Together

A young couple charged with luring an eastern Pennsylvania man to his death with a Craigslist ad will be arraigned on the same day at a venue chosen to accommodate a possible crush of media and curiosity seekers.

The Daily Item said Friday that 18-year-old Miranda Barbour and 22-year-old Elytte Barbour will have separate appearances on Dec. 20 before District Judge Ben Apfelbaum in the Northumberland County Courthouse.

Arraignments are usually held at City Hall. Officials said they're switching to a larger and more secure location because of the widespread interest the case has generated.

Police said the couple, married for just three weeks, stabbed and strangled Troy LaFerrara on Nov. 11 because they wanted to kill someone together.

Both suspects are being held without bail.
