Almost 19,000 Without Power in Northern Del.

Severe weather moved through New Castle County Tuesday afternoon.

Thousands of utility customers were left without power after heavy rains and winds pounded parts of northern Delaware.

The storms rolled through the area early Tuesday afternoon, knocking down trees and power lines and prompting the National Weather Service to issue a tornado warning for northeastern New Castle County.

Delmarva Power reported that almost 19, 000 customers in New Castle County were without power.
