Philadelphia and its surrounding towns always have something going on. Whether it’s a folk, Caribbean or India festival, talent contest, concert or fireworks show, Philly and the Shore in the summer are filled with fun. We’ve found the top (and affordable) choices of what to do this weekend, Aug. 17-19, in and around Philadelphia and down the shore.

Philadelphia Folk Festival

Musicians, storytellers, artisans and more will be in attendance at this merry festival. There will be plenty of food and drinks as well.

Friday Night Fireworks in Wildwood

Grab a blanket or a beach chair and head to the beach to watch this awesome fireworks display every Friday through the summer.

The Great Potato Dig

Dig your very own Jersey Fresh potatoes on the farm and then enjoy hayrides, animal visits and more fun on the farm.

Wildwoods Got Talent

This four-week talent contest will feature singers, dancers, magicians, musicians, comics and more. Judges and the audience vote on the winners each week and decide who moves on to the finals. The Grand Finale takes place on Aug. 24 with a $1,000 grand prize. Bring a beach chair or blanket, there’s no designated seating at the venue but there are food vendors.

Baseball on the Beach

Join one of these "sandlot" style baseball games on the beach.

40th Street Summer Series

University City’s popular concert series returns for the summer with live performances and free giveaways. The York Street Hustle with Three Aksha will perform this Saturday.

Festival of India

Celebrate India’s Independence Day with a daylong showcase of Indian culture through dance, art, music, food and more.

Village Field Day
