Things to Do in and Around Philly and the Shore This Weekend

Philadelphia and its surrounding counties always have something going on. Whether it’s a talent contest, tattoo expo, county fair, concert or classic car show, Philly and the Shore in the summer are filled with fun. We’ve found the top (and affordable) choices of what to do this weekend, Aug. 10-12, in and around Philadelphia and down the shore.

What: Wildwoods Got Talent

This four-week talent contest will feature singers, dancers, magicians, musicians, comics and more. Judges and the audience vote on the winners each week and decide who moves on to the finals. The Grand Finale takes place on Aug. 24 with a $1,000 grand prize. Bring a beach chair or blanket, there’s no designated seating at the venue but there are food vendors.

What: Musikfest

This outdoor concert and festival runs several days and hosts a variety of top performers. Some of this year’s headliners include All Time Low and Jason Mraz play this weekend. Families can also find crafts, numerous food vendors, kids activities and much, much more.

Where: 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, Pa.

When: Runs through Sunday, Aug. 12

What: Friday Night Fireworks in Wildwood

Grab a blanket or a beach chair and head to the beach to watch this awesome fireworks display every Friday through the summer.

Where: Pine Avenue and the Beach, Wildwood

When: Friday, Aug. 10 at 10 p.m.

Cost: Free

What: Wildwood Tattoo Beach Bash Expo & Show

Tattoo artists from across the country will be live tattooing at this artistry event. Art exhibits, contests and more will also be available.

Where: Wildwoods Convention Center, 4501 Boardwalk, Wildwood, NJ

When: Friday, Aug. 10 through Sunday, Aug. 12

Cost: $20 per day or $40 for the weekend

What: Salem County Fair

This old fashioned county fair offers tractor pulls, horse shows. BBQ, 4-H shows, livestock auctions and more. Fireworks are held on Thursday.

Where: Salem County Fairgrounds, 735 Harding Highway, Woodstown, NJ

When: Tuesday, Aug. 7 through Friday, Aug. 10

Cost: Parking fee good for all four days.

What: Broadway Musical Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

This Disney classic is presented by the Ocean City POPS and Ocean City Theatre Company and the stage version includes all of the original music.

Where: Hughes Performing Arts Center, 501 Atlantic Avenue, Ocean City, NJ

When: Friday, Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m.

What: Second Saturday Arts Crawl

Every second Saturday in Mount Holly the community can meet local artists in the Mount Holly galleries and enjoy live music. There is plenty of food, craft beer and New Jersey wine as well.

Where: High Street, Mount Holly, NJ

When: Saturday, Aug. 11, from noon to 6 p.m., rain or shine

What: Classic Car Show

Check out the restored and preserved vehicles, muscle cars and trucks on display at this classic car show. The vehicles range from 1910 to 1980s and the owners are on-hand to answer any questions.

What: Philly Free Streets

Have you ever wanted to walk down the middle of Broad Street? You’ll have your chance this weekend. Pedestrians and cyclists can enjoy a vehicle-free North Broad Street from City Hall to Erie Avenue during this fun event.

What: Atlantic City Triathlon

Athletes will compete in both sprint and Olympic distance races of swim, bike and run.

What: Atlantic City Jazz Band

This concert will feature all the jazz favorites of the Dixieland Music.
