Thieves Steal Safe with $1000 from Upper Darby School

A safe with more than $1000 was stolen from Charles Kelly Elementary School in Upper Darby during the Holiday break between Dec. 22 and Jan. 2, according to the Delco Times.

Superintendent Michael Chitwood believes that the suspect snuck through a school window and got into one of the offices, stealing the safe along with a teacher’s cell phone and a window flagpole.

School Principal Kevin Magee contacted police after discovering the theft Monday morning.

The district’s public relations director Dana Spino says that the money inside the safe was to be used for school activities.

The Upper Darby Police are currently investigating the incident.
