Thief Targets Montco Homes: Cops

After arresting the alleged thief, police now hope the rightful owners of some of the stolen items will come forward.

A man is in jail after he allegedly burglarized several homes in Montgomery County towards the end of last year. Now police are trying to reunite some of the stolen items with their rightful owners.

Police say a thief targeted homes in Hatfield, Lower Gwynedd, Lansdale and Montgomery Township from last October through December. The stolen items include jerseys, rings, keys, bracelets, earrings and baseball cards, according to investigators.

“A break in the case came in Friday night, the 30th of December,” said Detective Ed Davies of the Montgomery Township Police Department. “We had a prowler call in Montgomery Township.”

Police say someone spotted Scott Neiswender, 26, roaming around a North Penn neighborhood that night. Neiswender’s car was also spotted in the area the same time as one of the break-ins, according to investigators.

Police searched his home where they say they found stolen jewelry. He was arrested and charged with seven break-ins as well as other offenses for unrelated crimes in Bucks County.

Investigators say Neiswender stole thousands of dollars-worth of jewelry and collectibles. While many of the items have been sold, police were able to return some of it to the burglary victims. Police say that other unclaimed items remain in their possession.
