The Thief Comes Out at Night

Bensalem neighbood the target for a robber

It's only natural to feel safe when you live in a quiet neighborhood. However, you should never get too comfortable as Bensalem, Pa. residents recently  learned.

“I just heard the front door open, because we forgot to lock it,” admitted Tracey Zaffino.

Zaffino was the latest victim of a thief who has targeted various homes in Bensalem over the past few weeks. The culprit has used unlocked doors and removed screens from open windows in order to break in. So far four break-ins have been reported in the Bucks County township.

Fortunately for Zaffino, she had an effective alarm system in the form of a 180-pound St. Bernard. “My dog was laying next to me, started growling and took off downstairs. It sounded like he was tearing something apart.”

While the dog was enough to scare the crook off, her neighbor wasn’t as lucky.

“He actually confronted one of the people in one of the houses and got in a scuffle where the victim actually sustained some minor injuries to himself, “ Bensalem Public Safety Director Fred Harran said.

Authorities believe that the suspect is a short, light-skinned black male with a medium build. His suspected getaway vehicle is a blue or silver Ford Taurus with a damaged passenger side.

If you have any information regarding the burglar, please contact the Bensalem Township Police.

Also, its important to always lock your door before going to sleep.
