Caught on Cam: Men Fight Temple Cops

Brawl caught on cell phone video

Two Temple Police officers on patrol Wednesday found themselves in the middle of an angry mob as they attempted to make an arrest.

Temple University confirmed that two of their officers were involved in the incident at 16th and Montgomery Streets around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. They say the whole incident began after one of the bike officers bumped into a man.

Police were talking to the man when one of them was punched, according to Temple.

The wild incident that ensued was caught on camera and posted to WorldStarHipHop.com.

The video appears to show two bike cops attempting to arrest a man when a second man steps in and a rumble begins and spills out onto the street as both officers fall to the ground at one point or another. After some time, and apparently fearing for him and his partner’s safety, the officer pulls his gun to back away the crowd.

Temple says police were eventually able to arrest 19-year-old Rodney Ganbrell who they say threw the first punch, and charge him with assault. The other man remained on the loose Thursday.

Neither officer involved in the incident suffered any major injuries, officials said.
