Teens Charged With Murder of Navy Vet

Investigators say teens fired on man after a struggle

A pair of young teens have been charged as adults in the murder of an elderly veteran outside his Philadelphia home.

Von Combs, 14, and India Spellman, 17, were attempting to rob George Greaves when they shot him in the chest, police say.

Greaves, an 87-year-old World War II vet, had just finished cutting the grass outside his West Oak Lane home when the teens approached him, police say.

Investigators say a short struggle ensued and that Greaves was shot after pushing one of the suspects.

Witnesses told police they saw a female in Muslim dress and a young man running from the driveway after hearing gunshots.

Both teens face charges of Murder, Robbery, Theft and related offenses. Combs has one prior offense.

Police have also connected them to several additional robberies in the neighborhood.
