Students Find Teen's Body on Baseball Field

Police are investigating the death of a Reading High School student whose body was discovered on a baseball field Thursday by other students walking to their bus stop.

"I looked down, then I seen a body then I ran to the bus stop and I told them, then we all came back and looked at it. We thought it was fake at first, but then, we noticed it was real, so we called the cops," Eliezer Perez told WFMZ-TV.

"He was like face down with his arm out. I don't know why his pants were down," said Perez.

One of the students then called 911.

Investigators say the victim, David Arango, suffered a wound to his forehead and are awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Police suspect Arango, 18, may have been killed elsewhere and dragged to the field at Scott Street and Brookline Plaza where his body was discovered.

Arango's family members tell WFMZ-TV they don't know why he was targeted. Reporter Dwayne Parker says in his story:

When loved ones visited the site of the crime, all that was left was the indentation in the damp ground left by David's body now filled with rain water. Fabio Munoz, David's Uncle, splashed the water on his face while saying "I love you. I love you." In Spanish he told 69 News that he knows, sooner or later whoever did this will pay.

Reading police Capt. Francis Drexler says investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings.
