Teen Shot, Stumbles Into School Event

Three male suspects being sought

A 19-year-old was rushed to the hospital after being shot outside a Northeast Philadelphia high school Wednesday night.

Shots rang out around 8:45 p.m. on the grounds of George Washington High School along the 10100 block of Bustleton Avenue, police said.

The teen was just outside the school's front doors when he was shot once in the lower back, police said. He then ran back inside for help.

The unidentified man, who is a former student at the school, was taken to Aria Hospital's Franford Division in stable condition.

Police are searching for three male suspects who fled the scene, but say identifying the men may be difficult since the victim claims he didn't see them.

"We find [that] hard to believe when you're shot right outside of a school," said Chief Insp. Scott Small.

At the time of the shooting, 300 people were inside the school attending a fashion show, police said.

Police say they are investigating whether those involved were part of the fashion show.
