Teen Shot With Stun Gun, Strikes Deal With DA

A teen boy who suffered severe facial injuries after being shot with a stun gun during a shoplifting arrest has reached an agreement with prosecutors.

Under the consent decree Friday in Bucks County Juvenile Court, the 14-year-old Bristol Township boy didn't admit guilt and won't have a juvenile record if he stays out of trouble for six months.

Defense attorney Louis Busico told the Bucks County Courier Times the boy's family is satisfied with the agreement.

The teen's bruised and swollen face was posted online by his mother in November. She accused Tullytown police of brutality after arresting her son for allegedly shoplifting at a Walmart.

"The picture speaks a thousand words," said Marissa Sargeant, the boy's mother. She has said that what her son did, by shoplifting, was wrong.

District Attorney David Heckler said the handcuffed teen fell and landed on his face after being stun-gunned while running from police. He declined to file charges against the officers saying there was no evidence of excessive force used.
