Teen Killed in Accidential Shooting

Friends thought gun was empty

A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed Monday night in an apparent accidental shooting, according to Philadelphia Police.

The boy and his 19-year-old friend were horsing around with a .38 caliber revolver while sitting in a car at 59th and Dickens Streets in Southwest Philly around 7 pm when the gun went off.

The boy was struck in the head and killed. Sources close to the investigation said the friends thought the gun was empty.

Police have not released the names of those involved.

No charges have been filed.
