Teen Dies After Shooting Outside His South Philadelphia Home

An 18-year-old is dead after a late night shooting along a South Philadelphia street, police said.

The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Monday along the 2300 block of S. Marshall Street.

Police said an unidentified gunman fired several shots at the teen as he stood along Marshall Street. He was hit one time in the back before running into his nearby house for safety.

When officers arrived, they put the teen in their police cruiser and rushed him to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He died just after 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Police do not yet know a motive for the shooting or have a description of the suspect. They are checking nearby homes for surveillance cameras with the hope of finding video that could help lead them to the shooter.
