Teen Charged in Shooting Death After Neighborhood Basketball Game

A Philadelphia teenager has been charged with shooting another man to death in a drug dispute shortly after the two watched a neighborhood basketball game last summer.

Nineteen-year-old Timothy Eric Baker II of the Germantown section of Philadelphia is being held without bail in the Montgomery County prison on murder and other charges.

Authorities say Cheltenham Township police found the bullet-riddled body of 21-year-old Jimmy Schmidt of Philadelphia on the Tookany Creek Parkway on Aug. 13.

Authorities say Baker and Schmidt were seen at a basketball game on a Philadelphia playground shortly before the shooting, and they and another man left together. Investigators allege that Baker drove Schmidt to the parkway, where he shot him and then drove off.

A listed number for Baker could not be found Sunday and it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
