Woman, 89, Punched, Robbed by Teen: Police

Police say the Wilmington woman was assaulted as she loaded groceries into her car

An 18-year-old woman is facing charges after she allegedly punched and robbed an 89-year-old woman in the parking lot of a Wilmington supermarket, according to authorities.

Police say the incident happened on February 25 around 7:16 p.m. at the Pathmark supermarket located at 3901 Lancaster Pike as the woman was loading groceries into her car.

Police say Quatessa Ross ran up to the woman, punched in her head, and knocked her to the ground. Investigators say Ross took the woman's waist pack, which contained money and credit cards, from the front seat of the car and ran away.

The woman suffered a bone fracture, according to investigators.

After an investigation, police arrested Ross at her Wilmington home a few days later. She was charged with first degree robbery and second degree assault.
