Teen Accused in Stabbing, Attempted Rape

Police said the woman knew her attacker

A 15-year-old was arrested for the attempted rape and assault of a woman police believe he knew.

The woman, 45, was attacked Sunday in her home on the 900 block of North 4th Street in Northern Liberties, according to Philadelphia Police.

Police said the suspect came into her home, attempted to rape her, stabbed her and fled after she fought him off. Investigators tracked blood spots coming from the woman's home.

A neighbor noticed the front door of the home was wide open and called police after hearing the woman yell for help.

The teen, who police believe lives a few blocks away, was later taken into custody at Hahnemann Hospital, where he was being treated for a hand injury. The victim is also at Hahnemann, where she is in critical condition with multiple stab wounds.

The teen is awaiting arraignment after being charged with attempted rape, aggravated assault, robbery and other related offenses.

Police are not releasing his name at this time.
