After two years in testing mode, Michele McKeone launched Autism Expressed in 2013. Now, she's decided to turn her long-term side project into a full-time gig.
McKeone, 32, who spent seven years teaching self-contained autistic support at South Philadelphia High School, walked away from her classroom last week. She's now working to grow Autism Expressed, her ed-tech solution to teaching digital literacy and life skills to students with disabilities.
It wasn't an easy decision. But, teaching and building a startup at the same time was often overwhelming, she admitted. "There is such a demand on both ends," McKeone said.
