Tattoo-for-Sex Child Molester Gets Up to 982 Years in Prison

Bucks County man gets life in prison for sex crimes against more than one dozen kids

A serial child molester from Bucks County will spend the rest of his life in prison for sex crimes against 15 children ages 4 to 17 over more than a decade.

"I don't believe he should ever see the light of day if we can help it," said Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler said after Walter Meyerle was arrested.

The D.A. got his wish. On Thursday, a Bucks County judge sentenced Meyerle, 36, to record-breaking 494 1/2 to 982 years behind bars.

The judge, Diane Gibbons, had convicted Meyerle in August of 170 counts of molesting boys and girls ages 4 to 17. The crimes spanned 13 years, from 1997 to 2010.

Meyerle, of Falls Township, was arrested in May 2011 after police said he tattooed an underage girl in exchange for sex.

The investigation led authorities to identify numerous other victims, some of whom Meyerle met through their families.

The Doylestown Intelligencer reports the sentencing hearing took nearly four hours because of numerous victim impact statements.
